South African Gourmet Mushroom Academy® Endorsements

AN INDEPENDENT OPINION

The Academy contracted Soft Craft Research (Pty) Ltd, a leading provider of independent research, to conduct a brief and anonymous assessment of the training. As professionals, we were reluctant to share such information as a means to attract business. Although the virtual real-time course dates are listed, the Academy does not advertise its services. Based on the feedback from their assessment, Soft Craft Research nevertheless convinced us to highlight some key areas of value in the hope that this will enable the making of informed decisions.

ACCREDITATION

There is no mechanism within the South African regulatory environment for the registration or accreditation of short learning programmes. Should a provider / institution be offering a course / programme that take less than one year (full time) to complete, then the course will be classified as a Short Course. It is important to note, that a provider / institution not need to be registered or accredited to offer Short Courses. 

The differentiation of above-mentioned short learning programmes is based on:

  • Day seminars where participation / attendance certificates are issued 
  • Personal enrichment courses where learners are not formally assessed
  • Highly customised short courses developed for a particular product / purpose such as mushroom cultivation 

Nevertheless, the Academy sets an international standard by providing a professional service with lecturers who are qualified and legally entitled to pursue this profession. When dealing with training providers, always enquire about formal qualifications of the personnel involved as well as the history of their company.
